Project Engineers - Commercial Construction

National General Construction firm is currently seeking an experienced "local" Project Coordinator/Engineers to the Bay Area as an integral member of our San Francisco project team that will be responsible for assisting us in delivering our fast-track retail projects that vary in location through-out the Bay Area.  The Project Coordinator/Engineer is NOT a Civil or Structural Engineer but more affiliated with the paperwork processing and scheduling of various trades and will be responsible for directing, organizing, and controlling project activities under the direction of the Project Manager.  Only apply if you have "Commercial RETAIL experience" and have proven experience reading blue prints and working in a multi-trade environment


  • Attend client meetings and assist with determination of project requirements  
  • Assist the PM in the drafting and issuance of subcontractors Scopes of Work, RFI’s, Submittals, budgets, buy-outs and schedules
  • Instrumental in project organization and communication
  • Chair site meetings and distribute minutes to all project team members as needed
  • Track the progress and quality of work being performed by disciplines/trades
  • Use project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client and project team 
  • Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Track field inspection reports throughout the lifecycle of the project ·
  • Issue Contract Requests, Letters of Intent, Purchase Orders & Subcontract Change Orders, etc.
  • Maintain Contract Execution, Subchange Orders and Client Change Order Tracking Logs
  • Assist the PM in the review of Contractor quotations to ensure that only fair and reasonable pricing is recommended for approval
  • Track & manage contemplated change notices and change orders in the database
  • Prepare substantial completion certificates and ensure all required project close out documents are obtained
  • Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others
  • Keep the PM and other Team Members informed about project status and issues that may impact the schedule and/or client relations  


  • Experience in the Construction Field and/or Project/Construction Management Processes
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting Project Management in the delivery of projects
  • Ability to read plans/blueprints & know how to download & share as needed
  • Proficient in ProCore and/or others Construction Software that is similar 
  • Proficient in all the MS Office Suite of products INCLUDING MS Project for scheduling
  • Familiarity with construction methods and the building codes
  • Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
